After the tragic events of last week in Christchurch, we held a special assembly today. We talked about the importance of showing tolerance towards others and how we should celebrate our differences.
The school assembled outside afterwards and students, representing a range of nations from around the world, helped to plant a kowhai tree next to our friendship seat.

Each class then brought up a card with messages of support and sorrow, which will be sent to different schools in Christchurch.

May peace cover you and remain with you, Christchurch.
Wow Haumia, what a lovely thing to do for a city that's had so many sad times recently. I'm sure they'll love your card. I love coming into your school because there are students and teachers from so many places in the world!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing Haumia. May we learn to wage peace.
