Visiting Author

We had an author visit school this past week. Anne Kayes has had two books published about the Tui Street kids (Jack, Tim, Ella, Lucy, Louis, Terri, Gemma and Harry). She came to talk to us about her books and read parts of them. It was so interesting hearing her describe the characters, their adventures, the mythical creatures and the links to classic fairytales.

Haumia did a great job in thinking of relevant questions before the visit including:

What made you want to write books?
What are your favourite kinds of books?
What books have you written?
How many books have you published?
Which one is your favourite?
Why do you like writing books?
When did you start writing books?
Where do you get your inspiration from?

We are looking forward to buying copies for the school library and reading them!

Welcome to 2020!

Another school year has started and learning is well underway. But first, let me introduce you to our class for 2020 -
Haumia....

Recently we have been thinking about what learning is and some things we might do to help us with our learning. Here's what we came up with...

Our inquiry focus this year is Ata Whakaaro - Reflection and we have been looking at one form of reflection in dance and music. We worked with a buddy and took turns at mirroring their movements. Check it out...

We are looking forward a year of fun and learning!
