Maori Language Moment

This week sees the beginning of Māori Language Week.

At noon today (Monday) was Te Wā Tuku Reo Māori (Māori Language Moment).

In Haumia we practised some reo that we have been using regularly in class for a while. We found a buddy and asked one another "kei te pehea koe?" (How are you?) and responded with things like "kei te pai" (I am well), "kei te ngenge" (I am tired), "kei te hoha" (I am annoyed), "kei te koa" (I am happy)...

Later we listened to some Māori myths about Maui and Matariki on Youtube.

Basketball

Our PE focus for the next few weeks is basketball. We had Ronan and Mikey form Sport Auckland come in today for our first session. We practised lots of skills to get used to the basketballs. First we dribbled the ball as we walked (trying not to look down)...

We dribbling low...

And we dribbling high...

We crouched down and dribbled...

We even sat and dribbled...

And we also practised passing and catching...

Now we are looking forward to learning more.
