Special Assembly

After the tragic events of last week in Christchurch, we held a special assembly today. We talked about the importance of showing tolerance towards others and how we should celebrate our differences.

The school assembled outside afterwards and students, representing a range of nations from around the world, helped to plant a kowhai tree next to our friendship seat.

Each class then brought up a card with messages of support and sorrow, which will be sent to different schools in Christchurch.

The card from Haumia...

...and our messages inside...

May peace cover you and remain with you, Christchurch.

  1. Wow Haumia, what a lovely thing to do for a city that's had so many sad times recently. I'm sure they'll love your card. I love coming into your school because there are students and teachers from so many places in the world!
